What to expect when you come to record
- Deposit due at time of booking (half of scheduled session)
- Remaining balance due at the conclusion of the session
- The clock starts at the scheduled time (unless 12-hour prior notice is given)
- 72-hour notice required to reschedule booked sessions
- No material will be released until all accounts are paid in full
- Hard-drive masters will be retained for one week
- No smoking in the building, period
Preliminary Meeting
- Submit lyrics and music for review
- Discussing arrangement, instrumentation, production, and tracking of your recording
- Gathering samples of music with the feel or sounds you are looking for
Before the show starts
- Bring all equipment you would bring to a show
- Bring extras: strings, picks, sticks, etc.
- If you would like to rent studio instruments, please let us know 72-hours prior to session
- Arrive prepared: get your rest, know your music
- Ensure all instruments are tuned appropriately, ask if you need help
In the ring . . .
- When you arrive, we will direct you where to place your equipment
- Our engineer will begin setting up mics and the board for each instrument and musician (this takes time, be patient)
- Tracking - recording, individually or as a group (determined prior to session)
- Punch-ins and overdubs
- Mixing
- Pre-Mastering
Final Thoughts
- "Practicing" at the recording studio is expensive. Come prepared to record
- Know when to say when. After long hours of recording, be prepared to call it a day, your recording will thank you
- Only "essential" personnel should be invited to the studio
- Tune, tune, and retune. Always sound your best
- Expect the unexpected, prepare mentally and monetarily for unforeseen delays
